Versus Odds is a production that aims to democratize art, culture and media. We intend to challenge existing hegemonies and monopolies in these fields by creating platforms for the stories, ideas & perspectives of people from communities that deserve more representation. Our production carries an educational purpose that empowers people to take action for genuine progress in their communities.

Odds are probabilities based on existing dynamics of power. By challenging these odds, we intend to change courses of power towards the people, so that we can build a more equitable, just and progressive society.

During the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, Versus Odds was reactivated for a 10-week open mic series which featured 32 outstanding artists, over 65 open mic sign-ups and over 500 attendees and viewers. We raised over $2300 for these causes:

• frontline health & community workers

• the Justice for Brandon Lee campaign

• the Black Student Union of City College of San Francisco

• the Black Organizing Project
